Custom Enclosure RFQ Checklist

Inspection review of enclosure details before shipment

Use this checklist to prepare a quote package for drawing-based electrical enclosures, control cabinets, mounting plates and component-ready assemblies.

Engineering procurement notes

A complete RFQ package helps our engineering team review enclosure size, material, cutouts, mounting details, finish, inspection points and delivery requirements before quote release. Use this checklist when you need a faster and more accurate response for prototype or small-batch enclosure work.

Who this is for

  • OEM buyers sending first-article enclosure drawings
  • Panel shops outsourcing repeat box preparation
  • Automation builders quoting prototype-to-small-batch cabinet work

Typical use cases

  • Wall-mount control boxes with cutouts
  • Outdoor NEMA-style cabinets with gasket and rain protection
  • Mounting plates and back panels with hole patterns
  • Pre-wired terminal boxes with customer-approved BOMs

Files needed for RFQ

  • STEP / STP
  • DXF / DWG
  • PDF drawing
  • quantity
  • material
  • thickness
  • finish
  • NEMA/IP target
  • shipping ZIP
  • BOM / terminal schedule if required

What Square Box can fabricate / assemble

  • Custom enclosure bodies, doors and covers
  • Mounting plates, gland plates, cutouts and grounding studs

Compliance note

Built for NEMA-style and IP-rated applications. Final rating depends on design, materials and testing requirements.

Square Box provides custom enclosure fabrication, component mounting and customer-BOM assembly support. Final electrical listing, field acceptance and project compliance depend on the complete design, selected components, testing and certification requirements.

RFQ detail quality

Common RFQ details that change quote accuracy

Missing drawing details usually turn into engineering questions instead of a firm quote. These are the items buyers should confirm before upload.

Can Square Box quote if some details are missing?

Yes, but the response may be an engineering question list instead of a firm quote until the missing size, finish, cutout, hardware or compliance details are confirmed.

Should inspection photos be requested during RFQ?

Yes when the project has critical cutouts, gasket paths, terminal layouts, mounting plate holes, grounding studs or packaging requirements that should be confirmed before shipment.
