Custom Control Panel Mounting Plates & Back Panels

Custom control panel mounting plate with hole patterns studs and cutouts

Custom mounting plates help panel shops reduce in-house drilling, punching, deburring and hardware installation before wiring starts.

Engineering procurement notes

Mounting plates look simple, but hole position, inserts, burr control, flatness and finish affect how quickly a panel shop can install components. A clear DXF/PDF package helps Square Box prepare repeat back panels before they reach the wiring bench.

Who this is for

  • Panel shops with repeat back panel layouts
  • Control builders needing hole patterns prepared from DXF files
  • OEMs buying mounting plate kits for equipment programs

Typical use cases

  • PLC back panels
  • DIN rail subplates
  • PEM hardware and grounding holes
  • Stacked batch plates packed by project

Files needed for RFQ

  • STEP / STP
  • DXF / DWG
  • PDF drawing
  • quantity
  • material
  • thickness
  • finish
  • NEMA/IP target
  • shipping ZIP
  • BOM / terminal schedule if required

What Square Box can fabricate / assemble

  • Flat and formed mounting plates
  • Laser cut or punched hole patterns
  • PEM hardware, studs and grounding points
  • Powder coating, galvanized or stainless plate options

Inspection points

  • cutouts
  • mounting plate
  • gasket path
  • grounding studs
  • terminal layout
  • surface finish
  • packaging photos

Compliance note

Built for NEMA-style and IP-rated applications. Final rating depends on design, materials and testing requirements.

Square Box provides custom enclosure fabrication, component mounting and customer-BOM assembly support. Final electrical listing, field acceptance and project compliance depend on the complete design, selected components, testing and certification requirements.

Mounting plate inspection points

  • hole pattern position
  • PEM / threaded insert location
  • burr control
  • flatness
  • coating or bare galvanized finish
  • grounding hole and bonding location
  • packing count for repeat batches

What to mark on the drawing

Mark datum edges, critical hole groups, insert type, bare grounding areas, surface finish and packing quantity. For repeat panels, include revision control so later batches do not mix old and new hole patterns.

FAQ

Custom Control Panel Mounting Plates & Back Panels FAQ

What file is best for mounting plates?

A DXF or DWG flat layout with a PDF drawing is best. STEP or STP files help when the plate is formed or part of a larger enclosure assembly.

Can studs or PEM hardware be installed?

Yes, when hardware type, location, material thickness and pull-out expectations are confirmed in the drawing package.

How are repeat panels inspected?

Inspection can include hole pattern, panel flatness, finish, burr control, hardware position, grounding points and packing count.
